A Century of Devotion, Unity, and Divine Grace
Nestled in the heart of Bukit Damansara, Thurgai Amman Alayam stands as a sacred beacon of faith and heritage. Founded in the early 1920s by the devoted workers of the former Socfin Plantations—long before Malaysia's independence—the temple began as a humble sanctuary, offering spiritual solace to plantation families who carried their traditions across generations and landscapes.
Though the original families have since spread across Kuala Lumpur and beyond, the temple remains a vital spiritual and cultural hub for Hindu communities in Bukit Damansara, Bukit Kiara, Taman Tun Dr. Ismail, and Bukit Tunku. It continues to unite devotees through shared rituals, festivals, and the enduring presence of Thurgai Amman.
A Unique Dedication to the Divine Mother
What sets Thurgai Amman Alayam apart is its rare and powerful dedication to an 18-handed form of Goddess Durga—a symbol of divine strength, protection, and compassion. This unique manifestation draws devotees from all walks of life, seeking blessings, healing, and spiritual clarity.
The temple's current management has embraced a philosophy of inclusivity and service, eliminating all charges for prayers to ensure that worship remains accessible to everyone. This gesture of openness has deepened the temple's role as a place of refuge, reverence, and community care.
The temple's annual Thiruvilla festival, held on the last Sunday of May every year, is a vibrant celebration of devotion, culture, and community spirit—drawing hundreds of devotees in a joyous expression of faith.
