A New Chapter for an Ancient Temple

For over a century, the Thurgai Amman Alayam has stood as a sacred landmark in Bukit Damansara, its history intertwined with the very foundation of Kuala Lumpur. Since its establishment in the 1920s by the workers of the former Socfin Plantations, the temple has been a spiritual sanctuary for generations of devotees, serving not just as a place of worship but as a pillar of our community.

Today, we stand at a pivotal moment in our temple's history. To meet the needs of our growing community and to ensure this sacred space endures for centuries to come, we are embarking on an ambitious reconstruction project. This multi-story complex will feature:

  • A majestic one-floor temple dedicated to our unique 18-handed Durga.
  • A spacious one-floor multi-purpose community hall for festivals, cultural events, and community gatherings.
  • A much-needed underground car park to provide ample and secure parking for all visitors.
  • Dedicated office and library rooms, along with comfortable accommodation for guests and priests.

We are proud to announce that the approval for this significant reconstruction has been officially granted by Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur (DBKL). The first step towards this vision has been taken with the successful payment of the security deposit and ISF, totaling RM7,000.
